My journey to becoming a therapist

From a young age I’ve wanted to be a therapist. When I graduated with my bachelor’s degree in psychology, my first job was at a homeless shelter in Houston in the aftermath of hurricane Katrina. So many people had lost their homes and moved to there seeking housing and assistance. For the first time, I saw beyond myself and realized the profound importance of therapy and equitable, high-quality care for all. It made a lasting impression on me both personally and professionally.

When I later got my masters in Marriage and Family Therapy, I worked for over a decade in non-profits supporting people suffering from addiction, homelessness, complex trauma, systemic issues, social issues, and those on parole. These formative years, as I gained the hours for full licensure, truly shaped me into the therapist I am today.

After working in non-profits I decided to make a career shift to work with children. I worked for the Belmont Redwood Shores School District for almost 6 years supporting children with mental health difficulties to help them access their education. Helping children access learning was one of the biggest joys in my career.

I have supported a whole series of lifestyles, backgrounds, and experiences. I think this is what makes me a stand out therapist. I come to the field with real life experience, exposure to diversity, and a dedication to helping all people create change in their lives. My professional goal is to help everyone access quality mental health care.

I am now seeing clients at my private practice in San Francisco, a city I dearly love and reside in. I am accepting families, couples, children, and individuals of all ages and walks of life. Therapy is a crucial part of human existence and should be offered to all.
